What’s In Season 2023: Fall in the Pacific Northwest

With the availability of most produce year-round, eating with the seasons has gotten lost on many folks. Have you noticed that berries taste better in the summer? Or that squash can be roasted and smashed into the most delicious and creamy bowl of soup in the fall and winter months? If you’ve ever treated yourself to an apple fresh from the tree you’ve experienced how eating produce that’s in season is just different. If you’re new to shopping locally or seasonally, a great place to start is your local farmers’ market or farm stands to see what’s in season in your area. Perhaps your local grocery store has tags that tell you if something was grown locally. Not only is it better for you to eat seasonally due to the higher nutrient density of properly harvested crops, eating with the seasons is better for the environment and supports your local farmers. If you live in the Pacific Northwest and haven’t experienced a farmers’ market, I highly recommend you go enjoy the bounty of fresh foods that can grow right outside your door.

Use this as a guide to eat with the seasons for the rest of the year! This produce will be in season from October - December 2023.
